Isaac Zabarsky and Madelyn Adkins, Journalists

  • Math Hallways
    • Size: Small
    • Smell: Neutral
    • Navigation: Moderate
    • Scenery: Nothing Too Special
    • Traffic: High
    • Bathroom: 1 (Male/Female)
    • Drinking Fountain: 1

The classrooms of arithmetic are special and spacious, but the same can’t be said for the hallways. Luckily, there is still a restroom and two drinking fountains in the math hallways. You can say, “Hi,” to Mr Scott and other teachers as you walk to your mathematics class. Plus, they are the most common path to get over to the science and social studies hallways. The math hallways are usually very congested, but they are a very important part of your learning experience.

  • Science Hallways
    • Size: Large
    • Smell: Varies (Experiments)
    • Navigation: Simple-Moderate
    • Scenery: A Quick View of Courtyard
    • Traffic: Low-Medium
    • Bathroom: 1 (Male/Female)
    • Drinking Fountain: 4

Bubbly beakers and tall circular tubes await those who journey into the science hallways. These hallways are large and spacious, filled with lockers on every wall. There is also a handy restroom nearby and two sets of water fountains. The science experiments happening frequently in the high school often emit odors out into the hallways, giving students a different traveling experience every single day. The science hallway also seems to be quite a bit colder than most other parts of the school, which is very peculiar.

  • English Hallway
    • Size: Large
    • Smell: Fresh
    • Navigation: Simple
    • Scenery: View of Front Lawn
    • Traffic: Low
    • Bathroom: 0
    • Drinking Fountain: 2

Try not to walk and read at the same time, but you will find that difficult in the English hallway. Except for two classrooms located near the front of the school, the English rooms occupy one long hallway, so navigation is pretty easy. At the English staircase by the front of the school, there is a lovely view of the trees and grassy lawn. There is sadly not a lot of scenery in this hallway, which is a shame. Because of how far away this area is from the rest of the school, there is very little traffic so walking through here is a very enjoyable experience.

  • Social Studies Hallway
    • Size: Large
    • Smell: Fresh
    • Navigation: Simple-Moderate
    • Scenery: Nothing Too Special
    • Traffic: Medium, High by Staircase
    • Bathroom: 1 (Male/Female)
    • Drinking Fountain: 2

The actions of George Washington and Abraham Lincoln contributed to some of the classes on the second floor of the high school. Going up a flight of stairs leads to history, geography, government, and more! The social studies hallways are not very high in traffic. However, the staircase has high traffic, which can cause extra traffic. All of the classrooms are in one area so navigation is easy, and the hallways have a bathroom as well as a high pressure drinking fountain.

  • Language Hallways/Inner Hallways
    • Size: Medium
    • Smell: Fresh
    • Navigation: Moderate
    • Scenery: Nothing Too Special
    • Traffic: Medium
    • Bathroom: 1
    • Drinking Fountain: 1

The maze-like structure in the center of the high school is mainly occupied by the foreign language classrooms. The navigation is a little more complicated, as not all foregin language classrooms are in one area. There is a bathroom and a water fountain as well, and traffic is typically mild, which makes the flow of students pretty simple. This hallway is not typically backed up, but the intersections can sometimes be a little busy.

  • Outer Hallways
    • Size: Small-Medium
    • Smell: Fresh
    • Navigation: Simple
    • Scenery: Colorful Posters and Windows
    • Traffic: Low
    • Bathroom: 1 (Male/Female)
    • Drinking Fountain: 1

Most people typically do not venture down the hallways by the front of the school. This is great for those who do because there is very little traffic in these parts. These couple hallways zigzag from right next to the main office to the hallway by the media center. There are still a few important classrooms down this path including two English classes and the special education rooms. There are a few windows at the corners of each hallway, so you can get a nice glance at the front lawn of the high school as well if you walk this way.

  • Hallway by media center
    • Size: Medium-Large
    • Smell: Neutral
    • Navigation: Simple
    • Scenery: Courtyard and Media Center
    • Traffic: Medium
    • Bathroom: 0
    • Drinking Fountain: 0

The hallway by the media center has a nice, wide view of the courtyard, so you can see all the action going on out there. The traffic can be high, however the navigation is very simple. However, there are not any bathrooms or water fountains. The main point of interest is the beautiful scenery that is the courtyard. This particular hallway has a large, wide window that gives a grand view of the courtyard with trees and pretty flowers. The media center, one of the most useful rooms in the school, is located in this hallway as well.

  • Sports Hallways
    • Size: Small-Medium
    • Smell: Sweaty and Musty
    • Navigation: Difficult
    • Scenery: Sports Equipment
    • Traffic: Low-Medium
    • Bathroom: 1 (Male/Female) and Locker Rooms
    • Drinking Fountain: 2

The behind-the-scenes of Strongsville High School’s sporting events are rarely seen, from the weight room to the sporting equipment. The sports hallways are lined with hurdles, exercise equipment, and large green mats. These winding passages take you to all three gyms, the weight lifting room, and much more! Before the sports department begins, several other rooms branch off of the first hallway, including woods and metals. The sports hallways are truly a place of sweaty jerseys and great wonder.

  • Music Hallway
    • Size: Small
    • Smell: Neutral
    • Navigation: Tricky
    • Scenery: Hear Instruments/Voices
    • Traffic: Low, High During Study Hall
    • Bathroom: 1 (Male/Female)
    • Drinking Fountain: 0

In the music hallways, you can hear everything going on melodically. This hallway tends to be one of the more popular ones due to the large student interest in music and the audible appeal from the music rooms and the stage. Navigating through the hallways can be difficult, especially during study hall changes, when traffic is high. There are a lot of twists and turns that take you around a loop. There is a bathroom, but no water fountain.
